My Winter Style

I'm no fan of cooler weather and dressing for winter but what I try to do is always inject as much colour into my wardrobe as possible. Here's a selection of what I've been up to so far this winter.

This purple winter dress from Events (which sadly has gone) looks great with a red long cardigan and purple and red scarf. Yes to colour!

I have also done my best to embrace a bright scarf or two.

I've enjoyed cooking hearty soups and pies to keep warm and healthy.

I have rugged up and pretty much covered myself from head to toe - oh how I feel the cold.

I have eaten comfort food that I shouldn't and will have to pay for in a month or so.

I have also embraced the winter dress.

But we have been spoilt with some incredible winter weather this year. Yes a Brisbane winter is a mild winter compared to many places around the world.

or for those who understand fahrenheit here's another example of our mild winter weather.

But best of all is how my beautiful city looks at this time of the year. Brisbane is such a gorgeous city.

Until next time xx

My Style - Skirts for Work

I do love a beautiful fitted skirt for work. The look is clean and sophisticated. Here's how I style them.

This skirt was from DFO Brisbane Airport a while back but I love the Pucci-inspired print by designer Charlie Brown. Here I've teamed it with a peplum black top from Portmans and Novo heels.

Next is this gorgeous orange and black skirt from Country Road. Teamed with a black Giordano skivvy it's very chic.

This black and white Portmans skirt looks great with this pink Review blouse.

This orange skirt is from Portmans and teamed with a white peplum blouse from Zara and white heels from Novo.

This skirt is from Zara ($29) and the top is from Portmans. First photo is during summer with black peplum from Portmans and Novo heels and second styled for winter with tights and boots and black blazer from Zara.

This skirt is from Review and the pink blouse is from Target.

And again here it is teamed with another Portmans peplum top.

And now styled for winter with a Zara blazer and Forever New scarf.

And again with a lime Country Road tank top.

This yellow skirt was $29 from Zara - an absolute steal. Again it is teamed with the Zara peplum blouse.

This is an old red skirt from Events (which sadly no longer exists). Here it is paired with a black blouse also from Events and then white blouse from Portmans.

This navy skirt is from H&M and looks great teamed with a white blouse.

And again with an orange Portmans peplum top.

Sometimes even Miss P and I find ourselves somewhat coordinated lol!! Even our heels are both from Novo.

Until next time xx

Favourite Makeup Brands - NARS

Who is NARS?

NARS was developed by François Nars, a French makeup artist and photographer. The brand started with 12 lipsticks which were sold from Barney's New York.

How I discovered NARS?

I saw lots of YouTube makeup videos where NARS foundation was all the rage. Sheer Glow is a favourite amongst normal to dry skin girls whilst Sheer Matte is a favourite of mine and works well with my oily skin. It was my first purchase when Mecca Maxima stores opened in Queensland. Sheer Matte has a lovely medium matte finish which is perfect for those of us with shiny, glossy oily skin.

What other products is NARS known for?

NARS blushes are simply gorgeous. Despite the embarrassing names, NARS blushes are pigmented, long wearing and breathtakingly beautiful on. I have two, Orgasm on the left and Deep Throat on the right. Deep Throat by far is my favourite but Orgasm is a very popular beautiful warm pink with golden undertones.

What about bronzer/contour?

NARS Laguna is a cult product. It's a little warm toned for my light skin but for Miss P with her light olive-toned skin, it's perfection.
What am I loving right now?

Right now I'm in love with the NARS Audacious Lipstick range. As François Nars describes them "The formula is amazing; it has this incredibly rich pigment that holds really well and it doesn't dry the lips. The new packaging is exquisite. The black on black metallic finish looks sleek and modern - it's like a luxury accessory." I agree the lipstick case is gorgeous and has a magnetic click upon closing.

I have just two lipsticks; Juliette on the left and Natalie on the right. The colours are only subtly different. They have extraordinary lasting power and feel very comfortable.

Where can you get it?

NARS is available at Mecca Maxima and Mecca Cosmetica in Australia; Sephora, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Barney's and Saks 5th Avenue in the US and; Liberty, John Lewis, Space NK and Selfridges in the UK.

How is it priced in Australia?

It's a mid-price range makeup line. Foundations are $67, blushes are $44, contour is $58 and lipsticks are $48.

Until next time xx

Winter Sales Haul

Today was last day of the winter sales in Brisbane so I decided to hit the Queen Street Mall. I always struggle to find clothes in winter as most styles are baggy and the colours are mainly dark. But today I had success!!!

First was Zara. I picked up this tank top for $11.95 which will go great under lots of my blazers. It will also go great tucked in or over many of my skirts and pants.

Next purchase was this bright psychedelic print dress in a style I don't normally wear, but the colours were great. I can wear it over jeans, pants or leggings. It was $59.95.

Next is this grey dress, Yes I know it doesn't have any colour, but the cut is amazing!!! It was $25.95.

Then I visited Sheike. I picked up this lovey blue knitted dress, and also purchased some navy Nine West heels to go with it.

Finally I visited H&M. This white fitted blouse with white detail around the waist was $39.95 and it will be a staple in my wardrobe. The detail will enhance my shape around my waist.

This long sleeve white t-shirt was a bargain at $5.

This navy top and skirt is super warm and comfory and is lovely paired with the Nine West heels.

My favourite purchase of the day was this floral black dress, with pockets!!! It was $39.95. It's cute paired with heels or boots or worn over legging or pants.

Until next time xx
